Chapelizod's church

For a while this was Chapelizod's (a village now just within the western boundary of the city of Dublin, where I live) only listed building. Its association with Isolde (-izod), of Tristan and Isolde fame, is probably pretty tenuous, but one can still dream. The tower is medieval, 14th century to be precise, but the rest is much later. Ireland has few good examples of medieval architecture in a well-preserved form, and this church is no exception. However, as the picture shows, it's an attractive spot, especially when viewed, as here, from inside Phoenix Park, Europe's largest enclosed park.
